10:01 am	The "twisted knee slightly" or "strained knee" that I complained about last year turned out to be my ACL detached from my tibia and a large tear in the medial meniscus of my right leg. What does this mean? It meant surgery on August 23rd. The center third of the patella tendon was used to create a new ACL, and an awesomely shredded part of the meniscus was removed. Woo hoo! 10:52 pm	I've got a sore knee again and its diameter is about an inch more than the other knee, despite naproxen. Knees can be tricky things. It needs to be better by August 27. Here's the knee timeline so far: Day 0: June 25 - strained knee Day 10: July 5 - returned to training Day 17: July 12 - strained knee Day 21: July 16 - missed a game Day 30: July 25 - commenced physical therapy Day 35: July 30 - missed a game Day 40: August 4 - returned to training (completed physical therapy) Day 49: August 13 - strained knee (4 Comments |Comment on this)

10:21 pm	An old knee. I don't think I mentioned that I twisted my knee slightly on June 25 in Cincinnati during the last quarter of an Australian rules football match. I couldn't come off because we didn't have anyone to come off the bench, so I stayed on the field and managed to get back to running a little before the end of the game. I took it very easy at practice for the next week, but by today everything seemed to be fine. In fact, I was having a great time today while running around for two hours, and I felt like I was having my best session in a long time, with no soreness anywhere. Well, you can guess what happened - a reoccurence of June 25 about one minute before we finished 120 minutes of training. I've got an ice pack tied to my knee, and for the first time I'm considering the possibility that I won't be able to continue playing until I'm 90. OK, this knee will probably be OK in time for Dallas on August 13 (it's a whole month, right?), but this could be a sign. I've never been very fast or ultra fit or super strong or at all skillful, but at least my body has been sound and reliable... until now. (16 Comments |Comment on this)

11:18 pm	I'm going to be in Dallas from August 12-14. I'm inspired by girlvinyl's similar post, but her's is "friends only."
